So what does ‘Strict Baptist’ actually mean?
Baptists practice believer’s baptism. Baptism is a public declaration of a person’s faith in Christ and their commitment to follow Him for the rest of their life. It symbolizes the death and resurrection of Christ. Baptism is a pre-requisite to church membership (please note you do not need to be a church member to attend our services).
To be accepted for baptism a person describes their conversion experience to the church members at a special church meeting. If accepted, a date for the baptism service is arranged. The chapel has a pool at the front for baptisms which are usually performed by our Pastor.
Strict stands for Restricted Communion. Communion also called the Lord’s Supper is a sacred moment of church fellowship when we remember what Christ has done for us on the cross. Bread is broken representing His broken body and Wine represents His shed blood.
Restricted Communion means that only persons who have professed faith in Jesus Christ, have received Believers Baptism, and are in good standing with their church may take Communion with us. Prior to receiving Communion persons must have permission from the Pastor or Deacons. We usually hold the Communion Service after the Sunday evening service on the first Sunday of each month.
Particular refers to Particular Redemption. We believe that Christ did not die to save everyone but that He died for a particular people who were chosen by God before the world existed.
